Maltodextrin is an emulsion stabilizer also known for its hydrating and skin barrier-protecting properties. It is a polysaccharide made up of short to medium chains of glucose units. It is produced from starch through a process called hydrolysis, where long starch molecules are broken down into smaller, more manageable units.

D’où cela provient-il ?

Maltodextrin is derived from plant-based starches, with the specific source varying by region. In the United States, corn or potato starch is most commonly used, while in Asia, rice is the preferred raw material. In Europe, wheat or barley serves as the primary source. At Oliveda, ours is derived from potatoes. The production process involves the enzymatic or acidic hydrolysis of starch, where the large polysaccharide chains are broken down into smaller dextrins, creating maltodextrin.

Quels sont les bienfaits ?

  • Hydratant : agit comme un agent absorbant qui capte l’humidité de l’environnement et la rend disponible pour les cellules cutanées, maintenant ainsi l’hydratation.
  • Barrière protectrice : crée une barrière protectrice à la surface de la peau ou des cheveux, les protégeant des agressions extérieures et retenant l’hydratation.
  • Stabilisant d’émulsion : la maltodextrine aide à stabiliser les émulsions, en veillant à ce que les ingrédients huileux et aqueux restent bien mélangés et que le produit conserve sa consistance.

Maltodextrin is included for its ability to create a protective moisture barrier, shielding skin from environmental factors, and for its skin hydrating and conditioning properties.

Maltodextrin is used in F10, F11, F42, F67, F76, F83, B13, B15, B52 B54, H22 and H23 from OLIVEDA and 003 from LA DOPE and HT Pearl Primer Serum from OLIVE ROSE.
